Prepared for the future with new integrated concept
With the first stone laying on 6 March 2019 the construction phase for Hegwein’s new site in Korntal-Münchingen near Stuttgart, Germany, was solemnly initiated. Within the next year new premises for production, logistics and administration will be developed on an approximately 11,000 m² property and a net floor space of around 4,100m² - the Hegwein factory of the future.
Hegwein GmbH is part of Durag Group and is specialized in the field of gas and oil fired igniters as well as gas burners for industrial applications. Being a specialist for the design of modern working environments and high-quality industrial architecture Dr. Schönheit + Partner (S + P) was assigned with designing and architectural planning of the new building.
With their factory of the future Hegwein responds to higher requirements concerning space and efficiency. Together with S + P factory planners and architects a future-proof concept for a value stream added production as well as the integration of logistics and administration was developed – visually and functionally.
“After a successful factory structure planning I’m looking forward to also advancing the construction of our factory of the future together with Dr. Schönheit + Partner”, says Rainer Böcher, CEO, Hegwein GmbH. “With the factory of the future we set new standards concerning lean production and will open the way to industry 4.0. Thus, we can improve our competitiveness with significantly increased product quality and strengthen our market position. At the same time we show a clear commitment to the site.”
“What is special about this project is the close connection of the different functional areas production, logistics and administration, above all with regards to visual appearance”, states Peter Thomé, architect and CEO, Dr. Schönheit + P. Engineering GmbH. “Next to an increase in efficiency regarding operational processes, among others, employees benefit from an architecture that is based on human needs.”
